The foam man is us, living our everyday lives of routine and structure, until one day, this day, “today is the day”, he frees his inner self; the part of him that wants to cast aside all obligation, so he can do whatever he wants. With this part of him free, his remainder - his “responsible” side - slinks away, unable to speak up against his freed impulsive side, but not without leaving a reminder of what happens to those who forsake responsibility… The little figures cut from his foot are those reminders. They stay with the impulsive side, until they become something more. They become something that can tear this impulsive person apart. They are the implications of what happens to people who lack responsibility. Longing to set things right, they plead his sensible side to return, and it does. And so our foam man learns that although it may seem glamorous to shun obligations, it comes not without consequences, and so he returns to his life, looking upon it in a new, refreshed light.
